This year we celebrated dad’s birthday at the Spice Market Cafe in Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa. Located in Batu Feringgi, Penang, the resort went through a major renovation lately.

This cafe with indoor and outdoor sitting is located in the Garden Wing (we choose to sit indoor cos its cooler). At the entrance of the cafe, you will find a displayed of many different types of spices and utensils.

There are many stations serving a mix variety of food – Malay, Chinese, Indian, Western and Japanese. At the cold station is a variety of seafood – baby lobster, prawns, mussels, yabbies and flower crabs.

The Japanese station offers variety of sushi, freshly cut sashimi – salmon, tuna, tako and unagi.

Here are the various types of food from the ‘hot’ stations.

The last stop is the desserts and sweets corner. Choices are endless, with mouthwatering cakes, ice-cream, fresh fruits and delicious pancakes.

With efficient service and the quality of food, this is one of the better hotel buffet around town. At RM87.00++ per person (during weekdays), it is worth the money. Diners paying by certain credit card are also entitled to a discount.

It is an enjoyable evening and we definitely would be returning to Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa again to try out the various dining outlets.

how much is the buffet per person?

for tht price, IMO… just tasting the desserts is enuf to justify the cost. went there several times… by the time we were ready for desserts… there was no more space in my stomach liau! funny how this happened every time.. i just never learn.

JT – Who could resist so many delicious food. When its time for dessert, most customers would be quite full.

I always try to leave a space for dessert but sometimes its easier said than done…haha

im keen to visit 2nd time but had been told the fresh fruits juice promotion no longer available so waiting the promotion comes again….miss the satay..sashimi woo

This is the best buffet ever.. but it’s the most expensive buffet too! ;P Miss the grilled baby lobster, salmon, fifty-cent-size-scallops, shark fin soup.. and of coz, the desserts (ie various tempting cakes,ice-cream and chocolate fondue)! Yummy!

i just tried the buffet dinner last month, the comment is the seafood including the greenlip mussels, baby lobsters, crabs and prawns are not fresh enough.The sushi even worst than the sakae sushi.This is what the spice cafe dissappoint me.However, suprising is their northern indian dishes did a good job and the dessert overall are normal.Hope that they will improve their food quality cause their patrons mainly are foreign hotel guests.
