My travel hotel destination this time to Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, was an introduction to the hotel’s newly-refurbished Lifestyle rooms.
The hotel is tucked in the bustling corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang, a great location which is walking distance from the monorail station and many other attractions. The different wings of the hotel combines modern comfort and renaissance art and design.
The beautiful architecture is an epitome of Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur
I found myself ushered to a new era of experience and hospitality in one of its newly-refurbished Lifestyle rooms in the East Wing of the hotel. Located on the elevated floor, the newly refurbished Lifestyle room provided luxury touches, modern conveniences and most importantly high speed technology for me to conduct my work.
With contemporary design and ambiance, the room was furnished with plush bedding as well as a sofa bed, and this is well complemented with the pleasing view of the Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower.
The warm feeling radiates from the setting of the new Lifestyle rooms, which emphasizes exquisite interior designs with a modern feel. The amount of detailing laid on the comfort factor is no-holds-barred; even the toiletries are from Pecksniff’s, one of the last independent British Fragrance Houses.
Each of the rooms is adored with unique artwork and finishing. The toilet is separated from the room with a glass panel and guests enjoy the privacy with the convenience of an electronically operated shutter.
I enjoyed the facilities of the Lifestyle lounge. Nothing beats the privacy of having teatime and also breakfast with a selected variety of salads, delicious sandwiches, local Asian favorites and desserts in the lounge.
Place for an afternoon tea which overlooks the majestic Twin Towers
My afternoon was brightened up with a little games and water activities at the relaxing poolside and the pool before dinner time. It was almost like an oasis; a beautiful paradise in the midst of the ever bustling Kuala Lumpur.
Renaissance Hotel has a number of restaurants and is one of the hotels in town that offers variety of cuisine: Italian, Cantonese and Japanese. I was invited for a lunch at the Dynasty Restaurant which was headed by Chef de Cuisine Tan Kim Weng.
I relished a scrumptious variety of food during the visit, all pleasingly presented. The first course was the Gourmet fine inspiration of four seasons RM22. The four seafood offerings with different texture and taste was absolutely superb, especially the crispy prawn wrapped with rice paper.
Pan seared scallop with Szechuan bean sauce
Cod wrapped with filo dough
Crispy prawn wrapped with rice paper and black sesame seed
Steamed fish maw topped with Chinese parsley superior sauce
Double boiled ‘three treasures’ with vegetable RM26
Dynasty with a pleasant dining atmosphere
The Oriental Grilled Lamb followed next. The tender and delicious pieces of lamb was served with Mongolian sauce, with additional flavors from the sauteed garden green and diced mango RM42.
Next up, I had the wok fried crispy noodle and the portion was huge. It came with a fresh water king prawn with gorgeous roe and vegetable RM40. The aroma was simply amazing, coupled with the fresh prawns. The generous serving of roe was the cherry on the icing, giving the dish an absolute wow factor.
The final course was the Double Boiled papaya with snow fungus and almond RM6. For me, the flavor of the boiled papaya is an acquired taste.
Renaissance Hotel is the place with a difference! I truly enjoyed the pleasures and the trendy treats of the Lifestyle room and the dining experience at Dynasty.
Thank you to Ivy Ng and Tammy Ch’ng for their warm hospitality in hosting me at Renaissance Hotel.
