My six-day five-night Perth trip in September 2015 sponsored by Tourism Western Australia and organized by Foodsion 食尚 truly allows me to discover more of the city. My series about Perth will be published on a weekly basis, focusing mainly on the plethora of culinary offerings in Perth’s food spots while also touching on the travel attractions and accommodation.
During my visit to Perth, Tourism Western Australia was very accommodating and arranged for our group to stay in several hotels and apartment across Perth. We were guided through the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Perth Scarborough, Alex Hotel, Mantra On Hay (Perth CBD), Hotel Rottnest, Crown Perth, Be. Fremantle Serviced Apartment and Novotel Vines Resort & Country Club.
To start off, it is worth checking out Alex Hotel, a 74-room boutique hotel in Northbridge. Opened a few months ago, the hotel’s convenient location at the heart of the central business district offers easy access to shopping and tourist attractions. Its rooftop terrace garden offers great views of the city. One can find relaxing designed areas and places to relax after a day out.
Hougoumont Hotel in Bannister Street is Fremantle’s newest affordable luxury hotel. With a heritage-laced facade, the hotel takes pride in offering guests luxurious comfort, custom-designed furniture from designer Yoshio Takagi. Each lodging has ultimate connectivity, including smart TVs and free Wi-Fi.
Located on central Hay Street, Mantra on Hay offers one and two bedroom apartments, and two spacious penthouse conference suites. Facilities include a unique indoor rooftop swimming pool with gym equipments.
Rendezvous Grand Hotel Perth Scarborough is Perth’s iconic beachfront hotel and it provides a good location for a beach getaway. The rooms offer un-obstruction Scarborough Beach and sparkling blue Indian Ocean view. Its location is a leisurely 30 minute drive from the airport and 15 minutes from the central business district. Do check out its huge swimming pool. With renovation in progress, it is designed with a range of experiences.
The historic Hotel Rottnest is a place for those seeking a complete, ‘get-away-from-it-all’ holiday accommodation. Restored to its former glory, the hotel on Rottnest Island offers 18 fully serviced modern air-conditioned rooms. Room options are Courtyard Rooms and Bayside Rooms. The four Premium Bayside Rooms have spectacular views over Thompson Bay. The external lush courtyard provides guests with a welcoming relaxing oasis.
We step into Crown Perth, an entertainment complex located in Burswood, Western Australia, near the Swan River. The iconic complex introduced by most guidebooks offers the best of business and leisure with its casino and two luxury hotels: 405-room Crown Metropol Perth and 291-room Crown Promenade Perth. A stay at this hotel allows guests to take a lift down to the many well known restaurants, such as Rockpool Bar & Grill, and Silks. One of our breakfast meal was at Crown Perth’s pub – The Merrywell.
Be. Fremantle Serviced Apartment in Fremantle is a great choice to spend the holiday. Located in close proximity to the many seafood restaurants, the apartments come with one, two and three-bed options. Some offers Challenger Harbour views and marina views, and we check into one overlooking the marina. The well furnished spacious apartment gave a very homely feeling. It came fitted with Nespresso machine, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. There is free Wi-Fi connection and 24 hour concierge.
The luxurious Novotel Vines Resort & Country Club located in a quiet location in Swan Valley, comprises a collection of 103 resort rooms and 54 condominiums accompanied by restaurants and bars. Its lush gardens offers a feeling of peace and serenity. Golfers can enjoy some light exercise at its golf course which offers ultimate golfing experience.
