“The project would not be possible without the support and crucial help in terms of time, talent and precision work from voluntary groups comprising the Penang Hindu Association members, Inti International College Penang and hotel staff. It reflects the good relations among the diverse people of Penang and harmony within a multi-cultural society,” said Hotel Manager Noel D’Couto.

Many were impressed with the colorful kolam. Floating on the surface of the resort’s 120,000-gallon swimming pool, it is indeed a stunning piece of art.

It took more than 100 volunteers working for ten consecutive days to complete the kolam measuring 638.02 square metres. The mural depicts a colorful peacock is made using 87 bags of dry coconut flakes (weighing 435kg), 37.9kg of sticker glue, 47 pieces of styrofoam, and includes 15 lotus flowers and 5,000 bulbs of fresh pompom chrysanthemums.

According to resort’s communications director Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman, the project cost RM25,000.
