A visit to Sigi’s Bar & Grill at Golden Sands Resort along Batu Feringgi Penang had us going through its gourmet burger menu.

The menu by the resort’s executive chef Adrian Lim has an interesting take on meats and seafood, with favourites like the Lamb Kofta Classic, Chicken Cajun Delight, Big Wave Fish Burger, Egg and Cheese Burger, and the Charcoal Bread Burger. Each burger comes with a complimentary soft drink.

The Lamb Kofta Classic has a mix of flavors with a 200g lamb patty, tomatoes, onion dices, foul mudammas, and a layer of cheese served on a sesame seed bun. The dish complete with French fries and lemon wedge is priced at RM58nett.

Tucked away in the Hillside area of Tanjung Bungah in Penang is Gusto Cafe. This cafe’s with a cosy vibe is built with open space for light and warmth. On the ground floor is the main dining hall, complete with the kitchen while a second smaller dining area is located on slightly lower ground.

The owner, Jason Selvanayagam runs the community neighbourhood cafe with his wife, serving up homemade breakfast and lunch fare to an eclectic mix of (neighbours) regulars.

For early birds, comforting breakfast staples include sausage, egg, bacon, baked beans and bagel while the kid’s menu offers toast with juice and choices of egg and bacon.

The burgers are available with different filling options, notably the The Pig Out Burger which has pork and melted cheese. One can upgrade one’s choice of burger with extras slices of pork bacon, cheese or egg.  The cafe also serves Jalapeno bacon cheese burger.

It was a relaxing afternoon with juicy bites during my visit to the Pinang Restaurant and Bar  in Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa. This cool  al fresco dinning place near the Garden Wing pool recently reveals its signature gourmet burgers and I had the chance to sample some them.

Price starts from RM32 with lamb, chicken and beef on the menu. Each burger with toasted seeded bun, flavorsome sauce, delicious accompaniments and fries delivered a different taste-bud sensation.

For those who prefer lamb, do go for the lamb and cumin burger (RM38). The burger is served with onion marmalade, arugula and an abundance of potato curls on the side. The juicy tender meat has great flavor and a balance hint of cumin. The onion marmalade is lovely but on the sweeter side.

43 Cafe under the hands of proprietor cum cook Jacgy Chan and his family has a following of customers with a simple menu of homemade oven-grilled pork burgers. He has built the cafe with outdoor seating in a relaxing atmosphere at his homely hideaway at Jalan Sungai Dua, Penang.

The owner pride himself on making his pork patty with love as revealed in their tagline,  ‘cook wat we love and love wat we cook’.  The quality and freshness of the food is a priority, with only a certain amount of patties made daily. The pork patty is approximately 90gms and made without the usage of MSG.
