Eastin Hotel Penang presents its “Eastin Ku – Kampung Ku” Ramadan Buffet for the coming Ramadan fasting month. The buffet dinner features an array of authentic traditional fasting favorites coupled with international favorites.

“The menu emphasised on lots of spices and long cooking time, and it is best showcased in both the gearbox soup and the roast whole lamb,” says sous chef Mohd Fauzi bin Alias. The gearbox soup is a dish of bone marrow soup, boiled for several hours, while the roast whole lamb marinated for three days is cooked for two hours.

A Malaysian team of chefs did our country proud by winning the Pattaya City Culinary Cup 2014 recently. The three-day competition, which was held at the Royal Cliff Hotel Convention Center in Thailand, started on Aug 15.

The team received a gold medal in the Pattaya City Gourmet Seafood Challenge at the Food and Hoteliers Expo 2014. Daniel Tan Chia Yang, the team manager, and Mohd Fauzi Ilias, the captain, were from Eastin Hotel. The other members included Vince Tan Zhi Hong (Eastin Hotel), Chuah Lay Yen and Chng Fu Wuey, both from the Penang chapter of the Chefs Association of Malaysia.

There has been many events organized to provide assistance to the Super Typhoon Haiyan victims in the Philippines and one such event is the World Chefs Without Borders.

Organized by Chefs Association Malaysia Penang Chapter together with Le Toque Blanche Philippines Chefs Association, the charity event was held on 9th December 2013 at the Eastin Hotel Grand Ballroom. The fund raised will go towards to rebuild homes in northern Cebu through the Roof for Relief program of Gk Cebu with Chef Raki Urbina, The Islands Group and LH Foundation.

Among those present at the event were OC Chef Audee Cheah, CAM, Penang chapter chairman Chef Peter Chan, MAH Penang chapter chairman & GM of Eastin Hotel, Penang, Mary Ann Harris and Penang Tourism Malaysia deputy director, Logi Dhasan. Chef Audee Cheah delivered the welcome speech for this event.
