One of the places in Singapore to be in for brunch is Boomarang Bistro & Bar. Located in Robertson Quay, the place not only offers authentic Australian cuisine but also is the place that many will gather to watch live sport matches, especially Australian sport competitions.

Traveling is also part of discovering new eating places. This second part of my Kuala Lumpur food article continues with many more interesting dining places.

It is an absolutely great meaty meal at El Cerdo located on Changkat Bukit Bintang. Together with some friends, we sampled El Cerdo’s notable dish of suckling pig and other dishes like Iberico ribs, sausage platter and seafood paella.

The half size piglet is priced at RM188. The waiter gestured us to cut the piglet with a plate. Not only is it a memorable experience for us but the food also delighted our taste buds. The suckling piglet done with amazingly crispy skin and soft meat with melting fat had everyone asking for seconds.

Among the choices of desserts, we had the raspberry sherbet and the rum and raisin ice cream. The latter is far better of the two.

Our trips to Kuala Lumpur had us visiting many places, savoring the city’s food and staying at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral. Recommended by friends Alison and Narelle, the hotel with a casual, hip vibe offers solid bed to help us sleep through the nights.

The hotel is a convenient place of accommodation, especially for those who do not have transport as it is located opposite the KL Sentral transportation hub.

It was a great day chilling out at Jamie’s Italian during my Perth holiday trip.

The William Street eatery is welcoming with its wide selection of wines, and a menu with balance between pasta, cold meals, antipasto dishes and desserts. I pretty much love its casual and lively ambiance.

The penchant for food with Australian influence had us visiting Jones The Grocer. It was our first visit to this cafe cum grocer located in Dempsey Hill, Singapore. Despite the crowd, we managed to get a table for three in less than half an hour.

Sole Pomodoro Trattoria Pizzeria in Singapore has done a great job on its new outlet. Set on Quayside Isle in Sentosa Cove, the outlet has spectacular view of the yachting marina.

My visit to Sole Pomodoro (at the invitation by Leslie Tay) allowed me to meet up with founders Mauro and Gerri whom I last met at their other Cugini outlet on Club Street in 2012.

Singapore has a nice little food paradise that captures me. The place is none other than Dempsey Hill which is set amidst lush greenery. The many food and beverages outlets housed in restored army barracks attracts many expatriates.

The following day, we make our way to Bako National Park. Located at the tip of the Muara Sungai Tebas Peninsula, Bako is Sarawak’s oldest national park. We are ferried from the hotel to the Kampung Bako jetty where the National Park Office is located. After filling up some documents, we hop on a boat from the jetty to Bako National Park, with the Gunung Santubong in view.

We were up early the next morning and hit the road to Semenggoh Wildlife Center, situated within the boundaries of the Semenggoh Nature Reserve. The caring center set up, in hope of caring for the wild animals is especially famous for its orang utan rehabilitation programme.

The visit to this center is indeed an experience. We get to see the orang utan, also known as the ‘Man of the Forest’ in the feeding platform. The feeding time is between 9am and 10am & between 3pm and 3.30pm daily.
