If you are planning for drinks or cocktails in Muntri Street, Penang, hop in to Mish Mash. The place which has recently obtained its liquor licence is boasting a full bar besides its coffee and seasonal drinks.

The place with warm and friendly environment is own by two Old Frees (ex-students of Penang Free School). One of them is Ben Ng, who runs his own gig called Fluid Alchemy. He was on hand to show us the cache of whiskey that he has been accumulating over the time.

Vino Vino Bistro is the latest concept of wine bar to be launched in Penang. Incorporating a whisky bar as well as a coffee bar with a high tech twist, the outlet carries a wide and fine selection of wines in Penang. The cozy interior is lined with wine cabinet stacked with a variety of wines, Japanese sake and shochu.

Its drawing point is the Vino Tech dispensing system, whereby single malt whisky and premier wine are offered to customers by glass at the perfect temperature.

***The restaurant has since closed down.

How about having a wonderful dinner in a classy and romantic restaurant? Well, I did just that at Bagan Bar & Restaurant which is located nearby Gurney Drive. This restaurant is operated by the same management which owns the Thirty Two Mansion, Beach Blanket Babylon and The Eclectic Lounge & Restaurant in Batu Ferringhi.

Updated on June 2010 : The restaurant has stopped operation.

Penang has been renowned for its ever-famous hawker & street food for a long time. However, in recent years, there have been a growing number of international restaurants popping out, especially in the regions of Tanjung Bungah and Tanjung Tokong. I was lucky enough to have tried the Swiss, Bulgarian, German, Japanese and Korean food around these area and in Georgetown.

Yesterday, while on our usual family food trips, we stumbled upon Shenanigans, the new Irish Pub & Restaurant along Jalan Tanjung Tokong with its traditional green and splendor. We pop in for a visit but to our surprise, they were holding an opening function. The Manager told us that the ala carte menu is only available on a much later date and he invited us to join in the function with free flow of beer and finger food.
