Like in all countries, Singapore also has many varieties of hawker food, adding to the comfortable hotel cuisines. You can find countless hawker food stalls located inside the shops, eating areas and food courts all over the city with reasonable prices and interesting food. The variety of food is actually amazing.

The gastronomic adventure had several of us visiting many parts of the city. We started with breakfast at Chin Mee Chin Coffee & Cake Shop, an old-school kopitiam located in an old shop house.

This traditional Chinese confectionery is charming with its defining floor tiles, ceiling fans, marble-top tables and wooden chairs of the earlier years. All these give the place a very ‘old school’ look.

Edelweiss Cafe is the first and only Swiss Restaurant in Penang. We have heard of it for some time but only saw it while on our way to lunch with our friends at Colonial Restaurant. We found this place very charming when we walk passed it.

We finally visited the place last week. It is housed in a pre-war shoplot. The entrance is decorated with assorted green plants and ferns.

The interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with antiques.

Now for the food that we came for……

Being pork lovers and don’t mind consuming a bit of fatty meat once in a while, we tried out the smoked pork belly which is rarely found nowadays. The meat was succulent and the smoked aroma was very strongly embedded into it. It was served up with salad and mashed potato mixed with cheese.

The plate of barbeque spare ribs marinated with plenty of seasonings were very tasty and I could not resist eating them using my fingers!

Dessert not to be left out. The apple flan was served warm with a scoop of Swiss Mövenpick ice cream whereas the pumpkin cake with fresh cream.

We also had the caffeine-free Madras coffee which is very soothing and smooth. The coffee cream looks lovely with a heart shaped sign made up of cocoa powder. I think it would be very romantic having this cup of coffee on Valentine’s day!!!

If you are looking for Swiss cuisine, desserts or even for a drink in a pleasant and cozy environment, just drop by this lovely restaurant located in Armenian Street.

Hubby and myself had our lunch at Summer Garden Food Bistro in Vale of Tempe, Tanjung Bungah. Its right on the junction of Jalan Lembah Permai and the road leading to TAR College.

The garden is decorated with lots 0f green plants that creates a pleasantly outdoor environment.

The dining area inside is quite spacious and has a lot of decorative items.

It has an open kitchen right beside the counter.

The mains that we ordered were Duck Breast with Black Cherry Sauce for myself and Roasted Rack Of Lamb for hubby. The duck meat was firm and the cherry sauce compliment the meat. The greens were very fresh but we felt the portion was a bit small. The roast lamb was tender and served with brown sauce but hubby requested for some mint sauce instead. The food were very well presented.

After the food, we skip desserts but we did have a cup of coffee. The brown and white sugar were served in containers unlike most places that provide sugar sachets.

We were happy with the service, the food and relaxing environment. Do try out the cakes.

By the way, to call for service is just by pressing a button.
