It has been a while since I update my previous trip to Perth, Australia. Among one of my outing was in fascinating Fremantle and its surroundings.

Fremantle in Perth is popular for its eateries, market and heritage buildings. Many would make trips to Fremantle, patronizing the Fremantle Market. Located on the corner of South Terrace and Henderson Street, this market is open for business every Friday night and on weekends.

My latest food outing had me patronizing the Char Koay Kak stall which is located along the bustling Air Itam main road, in front of Suiwah Supermarket. There is an upbeat vibe to this road with so many hawker food stalls around – the tasty fried buns and tantalizing Assam Laksa.

Thanks to my readers for recommending this Char Koay Kak to me at my Kedai Kopi Wah Meng post :)

During the journey back to Penang we had a Bidor stopover at the well known Pun Chun Restaurant located right in the middle of the town. It has been in existence for many great years and is a popular place for travellers to stop for a meal. The restaurant serves delicious chu char dishes, ark tui mee and wan tan mee. Pun Chun is also famous for their all time favorite Chicken Biscuits (Kai Chai Pang) and Sat Kei Ma (caramalize egg biscuit).

Cintra Street which starts after the junction of Kimberley Street leading all the way towards Chulia Street has numerous hawker food stalls and old sytle Chinese restaurants. Most of the food along this street is simply irresistible as they have been operating for a long time. In fact I did a Cintra Street food crawl review one year ago covering most of the food stalls along this street except missing out on this Yee Sang Kai Chok (fish/chicken porridge).

As usual, we were browsing and hunting through for a nice dinner, and somehow Hubby had a great idea of having some Lok Lok! Commonly on the island, we usually go to Padang Brown or the Pulau Tikus Market at night, however this time; hubby wants to try out the Lok Lok at Butterworth’s Chai Leng Park, Wai Sek Kai.

We made a trip over there and we chose New Corner Lok Lok as it is the first visible stall when you enter into this one way street. In the evening, this street is turned into a hawker food haven with stalls lining up from the beginning right till the end.

Posted by: CK Lam    in Chinese, Georgetown, Hawker, Penang, Porridge

The Chowrasta Market is lined with plenty of food stalls selling throughout the morning. There is one particular stall that sells tasty pork innards porridge. If you are a huge fan of chu chap jook which is considered a bizarre food to some people but a delicacy to others, do check out this stall that has been operating for many years.
