If you are looking for good pineapple cakes, you cannot pass up visiting Gartien. Located on Lorong Macalister in Penang, Gartien is possibly one of the most well-known pineapple cake makers.

Gartien version of pineapple cake is rolled up in a rectangular pillow of buttery crumbly dough encasing a ball of tangy pineapple filling. Each piece is individually packed in Japanese washi paper to preserve its freshness.

Chin’s which was opened a few months ago was everything of a fine dining restaurant, casual and elegant dining with delicate and delicious food, wine and a sense of pampering.

The ambience was welcoming as I step inside the waiting area of the restaurant passing through its striking red glass door – there to greet me is owner Dave Chin.

Coffee Lane is a brew-to-order cafe which offers varieties of coffee and chocolate drinks with a few brewing methods including the syphon brewers. It is among the first few growing crop of cafes in Penang having the coffee prepared in a glass flask.

Being coffee lovers, hubby and I drove down town to seek out this latest trendy brew. The cafe situated in King Street, the same road as The Sire Museum Restaurant is own by Terry Beh, a person truly passionate about coffee.
