It was a relaxing afternoon with juicy bites during my visit to the Pinang Restaurant and Bar  in Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa. This cool  al fresco dinning place near the Garden Wing pool recently reveals its signature gourmet burgers and I had the chance to sample some them.

Price starts from RM32 with lamb, chicken and beef on the menu. Each burger with toasted seeded bun, flavorsome sauce, delicious accompaniments and fries delivered a different taste-bud sensation.

For those who prefer lamb, do go for the lamb and cumin burger (RM38). The burger is served with onion marmalade, arugula and an abundance of potato curls on the side. The juicy tender meat has great flavor and a balance hint of cumin. The onion marmalade is lovely but on the sweeter side.

Drive all the way up to the cliffs edge of Jimbaran Bay and you will reach the high-end heavenly Ayana Resort and Spa.

I have been holidaying in the touristy Bali for one week to attend my son’s wedding. During that time, I was set up by a friend of mine to check into the award-winning five-star Ayana Resort and Spa. I recently had the pleasure of having dinner with a group of US food journalists who were all flown in by MATRADE to discover Malaysia cuisine and promote them back in America.

The food journalists were none other than the well known Bret Thorn – food editor of Nation’s Restaurant News, Bob Lape – food reporter for WCBS-AM New York and his charming wife, Joanna Pruess – columnist for Specialty Food Magazine and contributor for Food Arts Magazine.

Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa Penang hosted their 2009 Charity Christmas Tree Launch at the Garden Wing Lobby recently. The hotel management started this tradition since 2007 and has been doing so every year since then.

The Christmas tree standing in the lobby was adorned with colorful mixed ornaments of dazzling lights, ribbons, golden and red balls, pine cones and Christmas flowers.

I was greatly privileged to receive an invitation for a dinner with the great Dato’ Jimmy Choo! Just the very mention of his name and I am sure many of us will have our mind filled with the world renowned shoe designer who is based in London, United Kingdom. This famous Penang-born designer was recently appointed the Malaysian Tourism Ambassador and Tourism Ministry’s adviser by our Tourism Ministry.

Proud to say, being a Malaysian, Dato’ Jimmy Choo is in the best position to help promote Malaysia at the international level.

We found ourselves relaxing and indulging in the Afternoon Tea at the elegant Rasa Wing Lounge in Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, situated in the tourist belt of Batu Feringhi. Our previous visit to this beautiful resort was for the buffer dinner at the Spice Market Cafe, but this time we opted for a relaxing afternoon in the lounge. The lounge was decorated with timber wood panelings and wide ceiling drop down glass with a view overlooking the beautiful landscaped garden.
