A visit to Sunshine Bay for dinner had the few of us indulging in several types of seafood dishes. This eatery, located in Kedai Kopi Sin Eng Huat at Tanjung Bungah is just right beside the traffic light junction, directly opposite  the famous Penang Tanjung Bunga Goreng Pisang stall. The place looks quite old with the fluorescent lightnings going on and off during our visit on a rainy day. Anyway, the food was awesome!

I am sharing the absolutely scrumptious noodle dishes first. The Kappa Mee Suah and the Stir Fried Noodles with Crab are two lovely choices that we started with. Meesuah was smooth on the tongue and extremely flavorful with the egg and fresh kappa.

On the other hand, the yellow noodles are stir fried with crab, robust with the crustacean juices. The noodles are best left absorbing the gravy as it tends to get slightly moist and more flavorful. I could not resist a second helping of the noodles! The crab flesh was juicy, and with the gravy coating it, the dish was heavenly!

Goreng pisang is a filling and tasty snack to have in between meals. There are a few Chinese stalls that I patronize and the Penang Tanjung Bungah Goreng Pisang stall is one of them. It is located on the left hand side of the road leading to Batu Feringghi and has been serving its customers for the past forty years.

Our family had the experience of tasting Bulgarian food at the newly opened Vintage Bulgaria Restaurant & Bar located at Sungai Kelian in  Tanjung Bunga, Penang recently.  This is the first Bulgarian restaurant that made its debut in Penang. It is located right beside Ingolf’s Kneipe German Restaurant.

We decided to pay a visit again to Sri Ananda Bahwan which served Indian cuisine but this time to their new outlet in Tanjung Bunga. It is located directly opposite Paradise Sandy Beach Hotel. This garden style restaurant is very spacious, quiet and more airy compared to the outlet in Penang Street that we visited last year.

We were surprised to be greeted by a traditionally dressed doorman when we entered the restaurant from the back entrance.

Their staff were quick in guiding us to our table. As soon as we were seated, a plate of mixed fruit cocktail is served. For drinks, we were recommended the Mango Lassi. This yogurt like drink was creamy and smooth.

We ordered the basket of mixed naan as we wanted to try out their different varieties. The basket consist of cheese, garlic, chives and the plain naan. All the naan were prepared fresh. It comes with a plate of mint and also a sweet sauce.

There were so many mouth watering dishes to choose from and after much deliberating among ourselves, we end up having the Chicken Hyberabad, Gobi Manchurian, Masala Chicken and a vegetable. The curry of all the dishes were very flavorsome.

A basket full of papadam was served together with the meal.

After the meal, we treat ourselves to three different type of desserts. The Banaras Son Palpua – has a crisp and flaky texture, Palkoa garnished with pistachio nuts and lastly a cup of ice cream. All of them are tantalizingly sweet.

There are more dishes that we love to try on our next visit and their Tandoori is one of them.

We were happy with their services as their staff were very attentive and helpful. The place is so clean and well maintained. Definitely no hesitation in entertaining friends in this lovely place.

German food is hard to come by in Penang Island but lucky for us Penangites, we have the Ingolf’s Kneipe German Restaurant which serves delicious German food. This outlet is housed in the middle of a row of shophouses located opposite Copthorne Orchid Hotel in Tanjung Bungah.

Beer Cans, posters, sign boards and pictures of food/beer lined the wall and stairway. Beer drinkers can pick their choices of beer from the many beers on tap found in the bar area located on the ground floor.
This restaurant has a wide selection of food to offer to its customers. Hubby took the beef and pork patties covered with a dark rich sauce and served with creamy smashed potato, salad and mild mustard. The meat was tender and tasty (particularly the beef).
My Rindsrouladen (beef rolls) were wrapped up by bacon strips. There were three side dishes – fresh garden salad, creamy smashed potato and sauerkraut (sour cabbage). I love the taste of the sourish cabbage. It went well with the beef rolls which were braised with a flavorful dark brown sauce.
My son had the mixed grill served with potato wedges, garden salad and black pepper sauce. The mixed grill had a combination of pork, beef, lamb, sausage and bacon strip. The food portion was huge and tasty except for the pork – which was a bit tough and dry.

We wanted to try the desserts but were too full after such a heavy main dish. We will definitely visit this restaurant again.
