Snacks are available everywhere in Penang! Plentiful indeed, however one particular snack caught my eye while I was slurping away my bowl of Assam Laksa in the Air Itam market. This lady was selling deep fried buns, similar to Roti Babi but with different ingredients and she uses bun instead of bread!

She makes a stunning serving of these inexpensive priced fried buns. The white fluffy buns are battered, deep fried and stuffed with four kinds of savory fillings:  chicken curry, mixed turnip stuffing (similar to mangkuang char), sausage and luncheon meat…simple creations!

My favorite from this stall is the Deep Fried Chicken Curry Bun! Stuffed with pieces of chicken and potato, the filling is quite similar to curry puffs… however the deep fried bun makes it taste surprisingly good.

Yong Tau Foo is a famous hawker food in Ipoh and is commonly found in food court and coffee shops around the town. I personally find the Yong Tau Foo in Ipoh tastier, and was delighted when my friend KS introduced me to Nam Fatt Fish Ball Noodle House.

My family visited this air conditioned noodle shop which was located along Jalan Kampar on our recent Ipoh trip. Our meal started off with a plate of Stew Beef Noodles @RM6.80. It was served with plenty of vegetables, indeed different from those serve in Penang.

Euro Deli, a landmark brand which has been in our shores since 1991 had recently held a launching event at their Damansara Kim restaurant after undergoing some renovation. The outlet, now occupying two shoplots has a relaxed dining ambiance. On top of that, there is also a section selling its signature products such as sausages, cold cutlets and other products.

There are numerous restaurants and pubs in Gurney Drive, Penang and recently a new cafe has opened its door. The Coffee Island cafe which is lighted up with colourful bulbs does bring colours to the popular seaside promenade in Penang. It has a large open air sitting area and also an air condition room.

In my recent post on Isaribi Tei Japanese Restaurant, I received plenty of comments and feedbacks from my readers on other Japanese food and restaurants too. One of them is the Kirishima Japanese Restaurant, situated in the lobby level of Cititel Hotel, Penang. We visited this restaurant which is known through word of mouth as one of the best Japanese restaurant in town!

We were guided to our seat in the main dining hall. Browsing through their huge and colorful menu, we noticed that Kirishima does offer a wide variety of Japanese dishes. We placed our orders and while waiting for the food, we were given a cold towel to freshen up.

We had this King Prawn Roll @RM24 – Deep fried king prawn rolled with salmon and avocado. Indeed, this dish was skillfully prepared and presented as well! This combination of fruit, fish roe and seafood was very tasty.
