Yee Heong Restaurant is a great place for a Chinese meal. It is one of the Chinese restaurants in Campbell Street, Georgetown that not only serves dim sum for breakfast but also Chu Char for lunch and dinner.

Over a period of time, we have been having our lunch and dinner at this Chinese restaurant which is located right opposite the morning wet market. The menu is expansive, with plenty of Chinese dishes!

Hing Kee Restaurant is a traditional Chinese coffee shop located on the left hand side of China Street in Penang. For those who are not familiar with this part of George Town, China Street is directly opposite the Goddess of Mercy Temple (Kuan Yin Teng).

This restaurant serves mainly chu char home-cooked style dishes and it is also open on Sundays.

For the first dish we chose to have the Kui Kau Curry Tumis. The fresh pieces of fish are cooked in the appetizing tamarind gravy with lots of lady fingers and tomatoes. The  taste is less sourish and not as oily compared to those that we had at Sin Kheng Aun Restaurant.

We decided to pay a visit again to Sri Ananda Bahwan at their new outlet in Tanjung Bunga, Penang. This restaurant which serves Indian cuisine  is located directly opposite Paradise Sandy Beach Hotel. This garden style restaurant is very spacious, quiet and more airy compared to the Penang Street outlet that we visited last year.

We are greeted by a traditionally dressed doorman when we entered the restaurant from the back entrance.

Their staff are quick in guiding us to our table. As soon as we are seated, a plate of mixed fruit cocktail is served. For drinks, we had the Mango Lassi, a creamy and smooth yogurt drink.

We ordered a basket of mixed naan as we wanted to try the different varieties. The basket consist of cheese, garlic, chives and plain naan. Prepared fresh, the basket of naan comes with a plate of mint and sweet sauce.

There are so many mouth watering dishes to choose from and after much deliberating among ourselves, we ended up having Chicken Hyberabad, Gobi Manchurian, Masala Chicken and a vegetable dish. The dishes are very flavorsome.

A basket full of papadam is served together with the meal.

After the meal, we treat ourselves to three different types of dessert. The Banaras Son Palpua has a crisp and flaky texture while the Palkoa is garnished with pistachios. And not forgetting the cup of ice cream. All of them are tantalizingly sweet.

There are more dishes that we love to try on our next visit, and the Tandoori is one of them.

The staffs are very attentive and helpful and the place is clean and well maintained. Definitely no hesitation in entertaining friends in this lovely place.

We drove over to Gurney Drive to have our seafood dinner with our parents in Bali Hai Seafood Market. This restaurant is on your right if you are travelling down from Gurney Plaza. The bright and colourful sign board can be seen from afar. There is a car park behind the restaurant.

The place is usually crowded during both weekdays and weekends with locals and foreigners. Customers have a choice to pick and choose their seafood from the rows of aquarium.

We ordered the fried fish (cui jiam), flower crabs, claypot fish with preserved vegetable and yam, fried vegetable with sambal and noodles. The steamed flower crabs came with pounded ginger and stripes of black fungus. Chinese wine was added to enhance the flavour. The crab meat was so firm and fresh. We ended up using our hands to eat this seafood.

We then had the claypot with pieces of fish head cooked with preserved salted vegetable,  slices of yam, dried chili and plenty of leeks. We enjoyed the unique and appetizing taste …

After that we were served another two dishes. The vegetable dish was a combination of long beans, star beans and lotus root stir-fried with sambal. The lotus root was thinly sliced and tasted good. The fish (cui jiam) was  fried until crispy.

We rounded up the dinner with fried seafood mee-tiau. Fried dried and not oily, the noodle went well with the accompanying spicy sambal.

The restaurant is suitable for entertaining friends and family. You get to savour delicious and FRESH seafood and at the same time enjoy the beautiful seaview. Price is a bit expensive but that depends on the type of seafood that you order.
