Near to the intersection of Campbell Street and Carnavon Street in Penang, is the Campbell Street Market. This corner market building with a brick facade still maintained its ornate cast iron columns and brackets. It has a poultry section, seafood and meat sellers.
In the morning especially during weekends, this wet market is very crowded. Busy atmosphere prevails by the stalls selling vegetables and hawkers pedaling their food along one side of the market building.

Yee Heong Restaurant is a great place to enjoy a Chinese meal. It is one of the Chinese restaurants in Campbell Street, Georgetown that not only serves dim sum for breakfast but also Chu Char for lunch and dinner.
Over a period of time, we have been having our lunch and dinner at this Chinese restaurant which is located right opposite the morning wet market. The menu is expansive, with plenty of Chinese dishes!

One of their signature dishes, Braised Lamb!

Over the weekend together with my blogger friends and photographers, we went around Air Itam to sample-fest some hawker food. We made our way to Kedai Kopi Wah Meng. The coffee shop located across the Sisters Curry Mee is a stone throw away from the Air Itam morning wet market, which itself is full of interesting local flavor.

How about a delicious bowl of Koay Chiap for starters?

Nyonya Kuih can be found in most of the wet market around Georgetown. They come in many different texture, shapes and multi colored. They are mostly steamed with some deep fried and baked.
I got to enjoy some freshly made kuih at Kuih Nyonya Moh Teng Pheow located in Jalan Mesjid, Off Chulia Street. The owner, Mr Mook and his family has been making the Nyonya Kuihs and supplying them to kuih peddlers for many years in Penang but nowadays they just cater to the hotels and directly walk-in customers.

Went over to Butterworth, Bagan Dalam to try out the teochew steam fish-head beehoon. The shop located just beside the wet market is actually a dim sum shop. Occupying two shoplots, it is really pack in the morning that they even have tables on the service road.

We went there late on a Sunday morning (in fact they were starting to clean up the premises) but still they were kind enough to take our orders. As for the dim sum, there were only two types left but we didn’t really mind as our our aim was for the beehoon. Ordered a medium size plate.

The soup which has tomato, mushroom, ginger and chilli padi was definitely appetising. The fish was fresh. As for the beehoon (soak in the teochew soup), it was so tasty that we ordered another plate with a single serving.

We all made a promise to come again but the next time much much earlier. Super recommended if looking for something spicy and sour to savour! In a nutshell, go there a.s.a.p!
