A sunset to set the tone for a seafood meal at Oyster & Seafood Bar By The Quay!
Located in seafront Straits Quay Marina Mall, Penang, Oyster & Seafood Bar By The Quay is one great spot to cozy up with oysters and seafood-focused dishes.
With indoor and alfresco dining options and view of yachts moored at the marina, the modern seafood bar with a relaxed and lively feel coupled with live music performance is definitely a place to relax and enjoy an evening outing.
Running front of house during our visit is Ling who brought on the sharing of the food. A range of white and red wines, gin, beer, and cocktail is available as well as champagne.

As for oyster, Gallagher (Ireland) & Coffin Bay (Aus) oysters are on the menu and we get to see them shucked at the bar and served to the table with lemon wedges, shallot vinaigrette and chimichurri sauce. My favourite way is having the briny oyster with a drizzle of refreshing lemon juice and Tabasco but my dining companion had his mind set for the chimichurri sauce.
The Coffin Bay oysters are priced at RM54 for three pieces and half a dozen goes for RM105 while the Gallagher oysters are bumped slightly up to RM60 and RM115 respectively.

There is a wide selection of small plates and going with a big group had us sharing a couple of plates. Choices can be as simple as Charred Cauliflower, Crab Avocado Tower, Shrimps & Chorizo, or it may be fried Fish Croquettes ‘Bait’. The Charred Cauliflower with hollandaise sauce, konbu, and parmesan, plus the Shrimps & Chorizo presented with slices of baguette were equally well received.

For mains, there is a wide offering and we had the 2 Tier Frutti Di Mare, Lobster Angel Hair Pasta, and Crab Aglio Olio with crab meat and ebiko roes. The 2 Tier Frutti Di Mare is a sharing dish of half dozen fresh oysters, and hot seafood platter of squid, mussels, clams, tiger prawns, and seabass.
Besides all these, there are two versions of paella – Signature Seafood Paella and the Squid Ink Paella. Both dishes cooked using Spanish rice and seafood, should keep rice lovers happy. Other mention is the Lobster Angel Hair Pasta which leaves us delighted with its al dente angel hair and well cooked lobster.
For those who are keen on having meat, there is the Duo Style Pork Tomahawk which comes with two sauce variations – Hickory or Chasiu. We had ours with Hickory sauce. Taste-wise, the meat was okay with seasoning and juices well preserved but the choice of the Hickory Sauce was a bit strong. When we return, we would be trying it with the Chasiu sauce for a change.

To complete the dining experience, there are a number of desserts and the Panna Cotta, and the Sizzling Chocolate Brownies with Ice Cream were among the choices that we savored. The Panna Cotta was pretty good.

Oyster & Seafood Bar By The Quay offers the diner great atmosphere, hospitality, and seafood that shines. Business runs daily from 12noon to a late closing time of 12midnight except for Tuesdays.
