If you are looking for a place to buka puasa during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, an evening at Vistana Penang Bukit Jambul is well worth it.
The hotel will be presenting the Ramadhan feast with 101 delightful recipes inspired by Tok Wan – Tok Wan being a colloquial Pahang state term for grandmother.
Tok Wan 101 promises an assortment of delicious soups, appetisers, main courses and desserts. The healthy selection of ulam–ulaman complement nicely with the sambal belacan, cincaluk, tempoyak, budu and sambal belacan nenas madu.
Aside from the ulam and buah jeruk, Tok Wan 101 has every kerabu (tangy salads) you could possibly crave. Be captured by kerabu ulam, kerabu mangga, kerabu sotong, kerabu jelly fish, kerabu chicken feet and kerabu taugeh.
There are comforting soups like sup kambing berempah and the familiar soto ayam. Nothing beats having the soups complemented by house-made bread stick and rolls.
Varieties of appetizers, fruit rojak and crackers
For Tok Wan’s main course, there are many different types of hot delights, featuring ayam goreng madu berbijan, ayam percik, kambing ala India and daging gulai kawah. Daging rendang tok and gulai itik serati Kelantan are some of the notable ones.
Seafood dishes include sambal udang kering, sotong goreng kunyit berkuah and kepah masak lada hitam. However those who love fish may want to try the kari ikan dengan bendi ala mamak, cooked with a plenty of vegetables in a spicy gravy.

The dishes are best savor with fluffy steamed rice, or even eaten with nasi tomato or briyani.
Tradition lives on with the warung (stalls) offering kambing panggang (whole roasted lamb), chicken and beef satay, Muar-style otak-otak, as well as chicken murtabak served with dhaal and chicken curry.
The buffet also showcase warungs offering prawn mee, curry mee and Penang char koay teow.
Get your hands around the many local and western desserts, from traditional black glutinous rice porridge and kuih-muih such as kuih cara manis, onde-onde, seri muka, ketayap, karipap, kuih lapis, or Western, with cheese cake, fruit tartlets, chocolate puddings and jellies. Refreshing ice kacang is also available and you can have it with toppings of ice cream.
Even better, have a hot cup of teh tarik, nescafe tarik or a cold glass of air sirap ros.

The buka puasa Ramadhan buffet which starts on 29th June till 27th July 2014, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, is priced at RM48++ per adult and RM30++ per child aged between four to 12.
