In celebrating the Lunar New Year, the folks at G Hotel Gurney, Penang have created a line-up of Chinese themed buffets. The buffets offer delectable spread of many traditional delicacies, combine with live BBQ flamed grilled seafood, poultry and meat.
Diners have a choice to go for the Gong Xi Fa Cai Brunch Buffet with Live BBQ on 19th February 2015. The buffet starts from 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm at G Cafe. It is priced at RM88++ per adult and RM44++ per child and include a glass of Oriental Concoction. Adding on RM35++, diners can enjoy free flowing house beer or wine. Children aged 12 years old and below get to eat for free when dining with parents (maximum of two children). G Hotel will be celebrating this day of Chinese New Year with traditional acrobatic lion dance performance at its lobby at 12 noon.
For dinner, opt for the Prosperity Dinner Buffet with Live BBQ on 19th February 2015. The buffet starts from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm at G Cafe, at RM138 per adult and RM69 per child. It is inclusive of a glass of Sparkling Wine. Adding on RM35++, diners can enjoy free flowing house beer or wine. Children aged 12 years old and below get to eat for free when dining with parents (maximum of two children).

The buffet brunch happening at G Cafe is priced at RM88 per adult and RM44 per child and include a glass of Oriental Concoction. For free flow of house beer or wine, just add on RM35++. Throughout the festive days from 16th till 28th February 2015, (10.00am to 1.00 am), G Lounge will be serving Oriental Concoctions with Exotic Fruits & Spices. For RM30++ per glass, diners can indulge in special concoctions such as Lychee Martini, Downtown Beijing, The Good Fortune Cocktail, Ang Pau and Firecracker Cocktails.
The Chinese New Year Under The Tree promotion at Tree Bar is available from 19th till 20th February 2015, from 12.00 pm to 10.00 am. The dish of Salmon Yee Sang (2-3 diners) makes its way on the tables of this alfresco spot for RM38++.

The buffet is priced at RM148++ per adult and RM74++ per child (includes a glass of Sparkling Wine), and is served on 18th February 2015, from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm at G Cafe. At the media dinner, we are offered traditional delicacies of Salmon Yee Sang, Fish Maw Soup, Braised Sea Kingdom Chowder, Roasted Peking Duck, Fried Prawn Golden Egg with Yolk Sauce, and also several dishes prepared with a modern twist. The menu is rotated daily, offering many more choices.
Sous chef Hamizi Hamid added lime juice and sweet and plum sauce onto the colourful Salmon Yee Sang prosperity dish, made complete with a mixture of ingredients, including raw fish (salmon), julienne vegetables, chopped nuts, toasted sesame seeds and crunchy crackers.
Everyone shared the Yee Sang with the ingredients all slicked in the sauce with delicate amount of acidity and brightness.

G Cafe serves a variety of mouth-watering soups: creamy Braised Sea Kingdom Chowder prepared with prawns, mussels, fish and crabmeat, Cream of Pumpkin with nutmeg croton, Braised Shark’s Fin Soup with crab meat & bamboo fungus and also Fish Maw Soup.
The clear double boiled Fish Maw Soup with Chinese herbs, chicken, dry scallops and red dates proves to be a favorite.

At the carving station, the chef serves out special carvings of fish and duck. The classic Roasted Peking Duck marinated with spice powder brings firm duck meat. Wrapped together in a soft pancake with cucumber, spring onions and a spread of sweet sauce, the parcel of Peking duck goodness is unquestionably a top poultry option.
G Cafe kept to the reunion dinner tradition in offering the fish dish. The Baked Salmon Chili Mayo comes baked with an amazingly creamy flavorful sauce made with mayonnaise, onions, capsicum and hint of spiciness.

There are many chafing dishes at the buffet spread, offering choices of Braised Pacific Clam, Fish Maw and Vegetables, Steamed Cod Fish with supreme soya sauce, Braised Tofu with minced spicy chicken meat, Stir-fried squid lotus root with celery and gingko nuts, Stir-fried Beef with Capsicum and Black pepper, Ayam Masak Merah, and Lamb Curry with potatoes.
Chef’s recommendation item is the Fried Prawn Golden Egg with Yolk Sauce, cooked with rich creamy salted egg yolk, cili padi and curry leaves.

Award winning pastry chef Tan Kwee Lian has prepared many sweet delights, from biscuits to cakes and jelly. There are the sweet festive choices of Chinese pancakes and cookies besides pandan chiffon cake, green tea cake, peanut butter cake and the layer cake.
For jellies, be sure to look out for the strawberry jelly, kui leng koh and the hot tau fu fa. Besides that, don’t forget the icy cold treats of Gelatomio ice cream and ice kacang.
