G Hotel Kelawai may have only been open three months, but the hotel is offering its touch as the place to have your wedding festivities. With its location facing Jalan Kelawai and nearby Gurney Drive shopping and entertainment district, the 5-star cutting-edge, lifestyle hotel is providing many services to ensure the big day runs smoothly and professionally.
G Hotel Kelawai has total of six Forum Rooms, and the hotel is happy to host your wedding dinners in Forum 5 & 6. The modest-sized venue can comfortably accommodate up to 120 guests.
The wedding specialist came up with two modern wedding packages which are contemporary, intimate and private. The eight course Intimate package is priced at RM1,388++ and the Sensual package at RM1,188++ per table of 10 (for a minimum of 10 tables). The wedding couple can select their favorite dishes and served with complimentary Chinese tea, soft drinks or fruit punch.
We sample the Intimate package recently at Forum 5. The multi-course feast served the Four Hot & Cold Combinations Platter as the opening course. The platter featured a sampling of kerabu mango with onions and crystal dried prawns, baked mussels with cheese, fresh scallops with macadamia nuts, and coconut prawn rolls deep-fried to a crunch.
Shark fin soup remains on the hotel’s banquet menu and they are serving the Braised Shark’s Fin Soup which incorporates eight treasures in chicken soup. “The broth was brew from dried scallop from Japan, crab meat, sea cucumber, fish maw lips, real shark fin, mushroom, and bamboo shoot,” said executive sous chef Ong, the culinary chef behind the creations.
The deluxe soup with a tasteful broth went well with some Chinese black vinegar. Besides the shark fin soup, there are a couple of other soup options to choose from.
Next was the Roasted Pi Pa Duck and Strawberry Chicken. The pi pa duck with crisp skin served on hoi sin sauce was decent, but the deep-fried chicken cooked tender to the bone, with bright notes of strawberry sauce is hard to beat. Indeed a great way to merge the two varieties of poultry.
The Fried Shelless Prawns with Golden Salted Egg Yolk Sauce delighted with sweetness of prawns, touch of herbs, and hint of spicy notes. Chef Ong added a delightful touch to the prawns by having the shells removed and deviened.
More seafood followed, with the Steamed Cod Fish with Supreme Soya Sauce. Simple and familiar, the dish was executed well with supreme soy sauce and cooking time.
For the vegetable dish, the Braised Kwei Fei Abalone and Fried Fish Mau were served with notably fresh broccoli. The combinations of ingredients were equally pleasant with a subtle sweet sauce.
The Smoked Salmon Pineapple Fried Rice followed next on a pineapple boat. The rice fried coated with egg were fluffy and came with sweetness of prawns and pineapple, besides smokiness of the salmon. Garnishing of spring onions freshen up the flavor of the dish.
Chilled Mango with Lychee Pop gave the whole meal a sweet ending, with golf ball-sized ice cream and popping lychee pop in smooth fragrant cold mango puree.
