PHOTO STORIES OF J’AIME BY JEAN-MICHEL LORAIN AT U SATHORN BANGKOK
On our Bangkok trip, we embarked on an evening of French gastronomical discovery as we tasted the cuisine at J’AMIE by Jean-Michel Lorain. Guests dining at the Michelin-starred French restaurant located in the luxury U Sathorn Bangkok are treated to inventive dishes crafted by Executive Chef Amerigo Sesti with recipes of Michelin Starred Chef Jean-Michel Lorain.
We walked into the restaurant, which was pleasantly decorated with an eye catching chandelier, complete with huge glass panels, and an open kitchen. There is nothing quite like seeing a chandelier in a shape of an upside down glass piano.
Executive Chef Amerigo Sesti keeps diners excited with an ala carte menu, a five, and eight-course set menu. You can update the meal with wine to pair.
5-COURSE TASTING MENU
Canadian lobster bisque with chopped garlic, parsley and citrus zest
SIGNATURE 8-COURSE TASTING MENU
Dishes from the 8-course tasting menu which I have particular affection was the Gillardeau no.2 oysters with crunchy apple, cucumber nage and tamarind sorbet, and the farmed pork confit ballotine with barlotti beans and girolle mushrooms. Both dishes teased and excited the palate.
Razor clams in gelée with savoy cabbage and sea urchin cream
Gillardeau no.2 special oyster, crunchy apple, cucumber nage and tamarind sorbet
Hokkaido scallop, Hokkigai, leek fondue, potato confit & saffron emulsion
Farmed pork confit ballotine with borlotti beans and girolle mushrooms
Needless to say, the meal ended with dessert- an array of mille-feuille “napoleon”, passion fruit soufflé, and rose ice cream in crystalized rose petals. The latter certainly was made with the ladies in mind.
