Located on the bustling Jalan Kelawai, Penang, Kafka Cafe can easily be missed. Hidden in the rear of bungalow no. 15, the recently opened cafe is drawing customers with its coffee and specialties.
The decor is that of a quaint cafe with bright windows and plenty of greens. Its menu offers a range of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and orders are made at the counter.
From the breakfast menu (available whole day), try the Beef Rendang Egg Benedict, and Spiced Eggplant Shakshuka. The Spiced Eggplant Shakshuka is a good option: roast eggplant, fresh herbs, and egg baked in spiced tomato sauce served with crusty bread.

For the Beef Rendang Egg Benedict, the breakfast egg dish is given a East-meets-West combination. Expect to find a soft poached egg with pulled beef rendang and Hollandaise sauce on a piece of crusty bread. Bite in for a play of unique flavors with hint of spiciness.

Then there’s the lunch and dinner menu featuring sandwich and salad. If you are looking for a light dish, you should check out the Sweet Lentil & Feta Salad. The salad rouse the appetite with its combination of sweet potatoes, pumpkin, lentils, and crumble feta.

Other items include the classic Penne Seafood Marinara, and the Pan Seared Chicken Breast. The chicken breast is prepared moist and tender, though I wouldn’t turn down a grind of fresh pepper and dash of salt.

To sweeten the tooth, the cafe has plenty of options ranging from the classic Carrot Cake, and Velvet Cake to the pancake. The Buttermilk Pancake comes with strawberries, blueberries, and honey.

As for beverages, coffee makes up the biggest part of the selections besides juices and a rich peanut butter smoothie. With Kishen (does the name Secawan ring a bell) working behind the coffee machine tells you all you need to know about the quality of the coffee. He ensures the coffee comes with rich aroma, taste, and flavor.
