With the 2021 Chinese New Year approaching, Eastern & Oriental Hotel (E&O) welcomes the Year of the Ox with a catalogue of delectable dishes and sweet goodies to be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home. The spread of favorites as well as E & O signature dishes are available for takeaway starting from February 1 to February 28, 2021 (three days per-order required).
A must-have dish for your celebration table is the Yee Sang, a colorful plate of fresh and preserved vegetables with raw fish. The hotel is putting on a collection of Vegetarian Yee Sang (RM58), Smoked Salmon Yee Sang (RM88), Fresh Salmon Yee Sang (RM88), and Sliced Abalone Yee Sang (RM198) to toss to the new year for good fortune.
As for the hotel’s signature dishes, takeaway options are available for a slew of dishes with robust flavors such as the Roasted Duck (RM98), Herbal Chicken (RM118), Beef Wellington (RM490), Roast Lamb Leg (RM290), and the Roast Ribeye (RM450).
Besides the savory selection, there is a spread of sweet Chinese New Year goodies that will make for great gift-giving to family and friends. For cake choices, there is the elegantly attractive cheongsam collar Mandarin Orange Butter Cake, Longan Cake with lady finger biscuits, tropical sweet Lychee Rose Cake, and Mandarin Orange Macaroon.
A delightful selection of traditional Pineapple Tarts, Peanut Butter Cookies, Almond Cookies, and Cashew Nut Cookies is also available as well. Packed in a glass cookie jar, each is priced at RM38. I just love the Peanut Butter Cookies with extra nutty peanut toppings.
Chinese New Year Auspicious Set Menus
In addition to the signature dishes, the team has specially curated three Chinese New Year auspicious set menus with an eight-course spread catering for 12 persons. Due to on-going Malaysia’s Movement Control Order 2.0 (MCO), the hotel is operating under different circumstances, with the dishes served individually.
The Fortune Set Menu priced at RM88.80 per person is tempting with creations like Prosperity Smoked Salmon Yee Sang, Authentic Szechuan Hot and Sour Broth, Steamed Chinese Herbal Chicken, Deep Fried Sea Bass with Sweet and Spicy Sauce, Wok Fried Loh Hon Vegetables in Yam Ring, Wok-Fried Prawn Coated with Crumbs & Golden Garlic, and Fried Rice with Silver Anchovies and Salted Fish. As for sweet treat, there is the Chilled Peach Jelly served with Dried Longan, White Fungus, and Red Dates in Rock Sugar.
The second set is the Longevity Set Menu priced at RM138.80 per person. Start off with the Prosperity Salmon Sashimi Yee Sang, followed by Chicken Broth with Shredded Abalone, Sea Cucumber and Crab Meat, Deep Fried Crispy Boneless Chicken with Pineapple Sauce, Hong Kong Style Steamed Tiger Grouper, Mongolian-Style Lamb Rack, Sauteed Broccoli and Mushroom in Superior Oyster Sauce, Wok Fried Prawns in Kam Heong Sauce, and Lotus Leaf Rice with Chicken Mushroom and Dried Shrimps. The Mongolian-Style Lamb Rack showcased tender meat and well composed flavors.
As for dessert, the set showcases Sweetened Snow Fungus with Dried Longan topped with Mandarin Orange Skin, as well as Shanghai Pancake.
Lavish choice continues with the Prosperity Set Menu. Priced at RM188.80 per person, the set features Prosperity Salmon Sashimi & Abalone Yee Sang, Braised Dried Scallop with Crab Meat, Fish Maw and Vegetarian Japanese Shark Fin, Shanghai Style Roasted Crispy Duck, Steamed Cod Fish with Soy Sauce, Crispy Ginger, and Lily Bulb, Wok-Fried Australian Beef with Sarawak Black Pepper Sauce, Braised Black Mushroom with Golden Bean Curd, Dried Scallops and Garden Greens, Stir-Fried Prawns with Celery & Asparagus in XO Sauce, and Crab Meat Fried Rice with Crispy Golden Garlic. The course ends with Chilled Double Boiled Sea Coconut Dome served with White Fungus, Red Dates, and Fruit Salsa along with Shanghai Pancake.
