Ah Chui Seafood @ Paya Terubong Penang
This restaurant has since become our regular haunt whenever we crave for seafood. On another visit, we had several different dishes. We started off with the red snapper. The portion was huge and was prepared in two techniques. The fish head was cooked in a claypot with a flavorful soya sauce gravy whereas the tail section was grilled in spicy chili sauce.
This claypot & panggang red snapper dish cost RM39.
Those craving for prawns should go for the plate of Kam Heong Prawn. The prawns were stir-fried with their special sauce along with onions and curry leaves. The prawns were very fresh and juicy.
Kam Heong Prawn – RM22
We topped off the dinner with Stir-Fried Kangkung and some Chinese tea, rounding off a bill of RM74!
Besides the Chinese tea, we enjoyed cooling strawberry sherbet and Coffee Latte concocted by the owner’s daughter. She is more than happy to prepare these specialty drinks to share with her customers whenever she is free.
Red Blood – delicious cooling strawberry sherbet
Coffee Latte
This casual seafood spot is located further up from the Paya Terubong You Tiao (crullers) stall. After the stall, continue driving pass the Lintang Paya Terubong/Jalan Paya Terubong traffic lights. Be on the look out for the Fire Brigade station (on your left) followed by rows of shop-houses. You will not miss this ‘chu char’ as it is visible from afar with its big signboard hanging right above the shop. Click here for the Map Location.
