If you are craving for a round of hawker food, be glad to know that there are many choices at Bee Hooi Coffee shop. Located on Burma Road, this coffee shop is open throughout the day and it is a popular coffee shop in Pulau Tikus area to immerse in.
There is plenty to suit everyone, with choices like Char Hor Fun 炒河粉, Western Food 西餐, Lor Mee 卤面, Lor Bak 卤肉, Hokkien Mee 福建面, Pasembur 鲜鱼, Koay Teow Tng 粿条汤, Satay, Chicken Rice 鸡饭, Laksa, and Char Koay Teow 炒粿条.
[LUNCH & DINNER] A crowd favorite here at Bee Hooi is the Lor Mee, which is prepared with yellow noodles, lean meat, braised egg, and bean sprout. Served in thick five spice flavored brown gravy, and garnished with crispy deep-fried shallots, it is tasty and comforting with an added spoonful of chili sauce and minced garlic.
[DINNER] Char Koay Teow is a beloved Penang dish of koay teow fried with chili sauce, Chinese sausage, cockles, bean sprout, chives, and egg. The stall owners (an elderly couple) believe in frying the noodles in a wok using charcoal fire.
Aside from the char koay teow stall, there is another fried noodle stall that focuses on serving Char Hor Fun and Yee Mee. You can savor the two types of noodles with the zing of pickled green chilies.
[DINNER] On light bites, turn to perennial choices like Lor Bak 卤肉, Satay, Pasembur 鲜鱼, and Popiah. Pasembur with deep-fried items, fresh bangkuang, and cucumber is tossed with an orangey sweet and spicy sauce made from potato & chili.
[DINNER] On the other hand, the hand-rolled Popiah with a spread of chili sauce and sweet sauce has all the natural sweetness of braised bangkuang wrapped in a juicy roll.
[LUNCH & DINNER] With Bee Hooi being a traditional good old kopitiam, the drinks are definitely of the coffee shop style. Enjoy the old-time favorite kopi-O, teh-O, barley, fruit juices or even Penangites favourite – Ambra Som Boi!
