For those with cravings for Texas grill dishes, do drop in to Swez Brasserie, located in Eastin Hotel, Penang. The brasserie is having its Texas Grill Promotion for the whole month of June 2012.
The young newly appointed junior sous chef, Kelvin Cheong whips up a selection of grill dishes cooked with a pleasant flavor of of herbs and spices). I had a preview taste of some of the dishes. The meal begins with the serving of warm Texas wild potato soup made with USA imported potatoes and herbs. The hearty soup with a delectable creaminess was simply satisfying.
The soup was followed by the appetizer dishes. The Texas broccoli and turkey sliced salad came with blanched broccoli, carrot cubes and fresh seedless grapes in desiccated coconut flakes and mayonnaise dressing. The sauces blend well with all the vegetables, including the garnishing of crispy turkey bacon and almond flakes.
The next appetizer was the grilled shrimp and strawberry salad. Grilled prawns were tossed with cherry tomatoes, rocket lettuce, fresh strawberry, black pepper and herbs in a dressing made from a combination of bleu cheese and fruity vinaigrette. The salad is modest in terms of creativity however the combination of flavor was lacking.
We had the Texas BBQ grilled skewer, with three varieties of meats. The chunks of grilled chicken, lamb and seafood (shrimp, mussels & squids) made great nibbles. My favorites are the chicken and prawns, with lightly dose of char and delicately spiced. BBQ sauce and yoghurt mint sauce are provided to complement the flavors of the meat. However I find it best to have the well flavorful grilled meat without the sauces.
The next dish was the grilled beef with tortilla, a popular finger food. Cut rolls with fillings of grilled beef, onions, green and red peppers, come with crisp nachos and salsa dressing.
I am equally fond of the grilled chicken with honey mustard glaze. The chicken drumstick meat was done with moist juicy texture and riot of flavors, and also lively colors from the bell peppers.
Desserts choices are aplenty, and we savored the American cheese cake and spectacularly rich Texas brownie.
Diners can look forward to the promotion priced at RM48++ (adult) and RM24++ (child), available for lunch from 12.00 noon till 2.30pm (Monday till Friday) and also Hi-Tea from 12.00 noon till 3pm (Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays). If you go on normal weekend, the buffet is priced at RM55++ (adult) and RM28++ (child).
Swez Brasserie offers a special discount of 15% for all Maybankard & Visa card members for the Texas Grill Semi Buffet Dinner (Monday to Thursday) and Weekend Buffet Dinner (Friday to Sunday) from 6.30pm – 10.00pm.
