For Ramadhan, Vistana Hotel in Penang is offering a full Ramadhan buffet with a traditional Kampung Nelayan theme from July 21 till August 17. The buka puasa spread has over 120 hearty as well as light traditional kampung dishes. There are western salads and plenty of appetisers. Ulam comes with plenty of choices — daun selon, timun, kacang panjang, petai, ulam pegaga and ulam raja — with a variety of condiments, notable ones being  sambal cincaluk and sambal belacan. Other appetisers include kerabu ulam and acar rampai.

Batu Lanchang Food Court is a great local favorite for lunch and teatime. There is a wide variety of hawker food available from the 50 stalls in this food court. We sampled a colorful bowl of Ice Kacang (Ais Batu Campur) with fine shaved ice, syrups, ice cream, red beans, sweet corn, cincau (grass jelly) served topped drizzled with milk. Another good choice is a glass of cooling sugar cane juice.

A visit to Tai Zi Heen Chinese Restaurant begins from its grand spiral staircase, right up to its location on level two in Prince Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. This award winning Chinese Restaurant is currently having selections of both traditional Hong Kong Dim Sum, Tai Zi Heen’s signature Dim Sum and the popular Dim Sum Odyssey.

My visit to this restaurant was made possible when Ken and Big Boys Oven invited me to attend the dim sum food tasting last Saturday.
