A Malaysian team of chefs did our country proud by winning the Pattaya City Culinary Cup 2014 recently. The three-day competition, which was held at the Royal Cliff Hotel Convention Center in Thailand, started on Aug 15.

The team received a gold medal in the Pattaya City Gourmet Seafood Challenge at the Food and Hoteliers Expo 2014. Daniel Tan Chia Yang, the team manager, and Mohd Fauzi Ilias, the captain, were from Eastin Hotel. The other members included Vince Tan Zhi Hong (Eastin Hotel), Chuah Lay Yen and Chng Fu Wuey, both from the Penang chapter of the Chefs Association of Malaysia.

The Tedeschis’ name is one of the oldest wine producers of the Valpolicella region, in Italy. Its collection comprises classic wines of the Valpolicella and Veronese regions.

The family winery is run by Renzo Tedeschi together with his children Antonietta, Riccardo and Sabrina. I had the pleasure of meeting Sabrina when Asiaeuro held a wine dinner in Vino Vino Bistro Penang.

Cathay Pacific Airways celebrated the opening of its newly refurbished First & Business Class Lounge at the Penang International Airport. The lounge which is conveniently located on level 3 has a relaxed and spacious atmosphere.

The auspicious launch event was graced by Yang Berhormat Danny Law, Penang State Exco for Tourism Development and Culture, Mr. Wilson Yam, Cathay Pacific Airway’s South East Asia Regional General Manager, and Mr. Arif Jaafar, Airport Manager, Malaysia Airports Berhad.

Also present was Mr. Roslan Abdul Rahim, Cathay Pacific Penang Airport Services Manager, Mr. Clement Lau, Cathay Pacific Penang Manager and Ms. Melody Keung, Cathay Pacific Country Manager, Malaysia & Brunei.

The event attended by invited guests, esteemed members of the Marco Polo Club and media friends began with the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
